Our carefully selected Artisan Olive Oil derives from the mountainous Messinian landscape with the most wild natural beauty, away from densely populated settlements and industrial zones, therefore, Artisan’s Olive Oil quality is guaranteed. The selected Olive Estates are in between creeks, mountainous and rugged slopes, with unspoiled vegetation, in an environment that hosts wild animals (wild boars, jackals, brushes, etc.), and in this area are hundreds small scale producers who collect each year their olives.
The variety of olives is Koroneiki 100% the best variety in the world for its organoleptic abilities, while the olive trees vary in age from very young trees around 5-10 years old to perennial trees. The altitude reaches up to 650m (Location: Ano Voytena) creating a natural obstacle for the bug called «fruit fly» (in Greek called: “Dåkos”) an insect that affects the quality of olive oil. For this reason the particular producing area is not on need for pesticides!
The Olive Estate fields are cooled in the summer by the Meditteranean breeze of the Messinian Gulf (20 km from Kalamata city-South Peloponnese) and the moisture that is maintained due to the mountains that protect the biotope.
